Takimo wordmark

One Super Researcher.
The full spectrum.

Takimo is an independent research consultancy run by dimo: 15+ years of qual and quant, previously building research at Meta, Dropbox, Cruise, and Discord. Built entirely on referrals.

Hey, I’m dimo.

I’m a UX researcher with 15+ years across qualitative and survey research. I’ve built research functions from scratch at Meta, Dropbox, Cruise, and Discord, and now I do the same work directly for product teams, one client at a time.

I take the time to understand what you actually need rather than jamming a packaged product through to your finance team. Generative (what should we build?) or evaluative (did we build something good?), with any stakeholder: PM, CEO, Design, Data, Legal.

What Takimo does.

Takimo runs qualitative studies, quantitative segmentation, continuous discovery retainers, and research advisory, all delivered by the senior researcher who scoped them.

Who are your users, really?

Segmentation & foundational quant

Survey design, segmentation analysis, segment profiles, and a report with a live readout your team can act on.

Are we building the right thing?

Qualitative studies

Generative or evaluative. Interviews, usability testing, concept evaluation. Guide, moderation, analysis, readout.

How do we learn every sprint?

Continuous discovery retainer

Rolling studies, priority scheduling, monthly synthesis. Senior research on tap, without a full-time hire.

Can you help us stand up research?

Strategy, advisory & ResearchOps

Function stand-up, repo and guide systems, workshop facilitation, expert review, team coaching.

The person who scopes the study is the one doing the work.

At an agency, an account manager sells the study and juniors often execute it, with overhead built into the bill. At Takimo the same senior researcher designs the study, moderates the sessions, runs the analysis, and presents the findings. Faster kickoff, one point of accountability, and a plan sized to your problem instead of a product catalog.

Senior-direct, no juniors

FAQ.

How much does hiring a UX research consultant cost?
In 2026, senior independent research consultants in the US typically charge $1,500 to $3,000 per day, with project engagements running roughly $8,000 to $80,000 depending on scope and audience. Takimo prices per deliverable rather than per hour, and you get a fixed number after two free scoping conversations, before any work begins. A detailed rate card is shared during scoping.
What kinds of studies does Takimo run?
Qualitative: 1:1 interviews, moderated usability testing, concept and prototype evaluation, diary studies. Quantitative: survey design, attitudinal segmentation, feature prioritization. Plus continuous discovery retainers and research advisory (standing up a research function, ResearchOps, coaching).
How is a solo consultant different from an agency?
Agencies bill a blended rate that covers account management and overhead, and the analysis is often executed by junior staff. With Takimo, the senior researcher is the entire pipeline. You get faster turnaround and a single accountable owner, typically at a lower total cost than an agency quote for the same scope.
Where is Takimo located? Do you work remotely?
Takimo is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Remote studies run worldwide over video; in-person fieldwork is available in the Bay Area. (or... elsewhere! Let's talk!)
How fast can a study start?
Scoping takes two conversations, usually within a week. Most studies kick off one to two weeks after a signed statement of work, depending on recruiting difficulty.
